Comment is free

Ha. It turns out that nobody’s been able to comment on my blog for several months now because of a misbehaving plugin. I was wondering why it had gone a bit quiet round here, but put that down to the fact that I, er, hadn’t really written anything.

You’ll be immensely relieved to know that I’ve now killed the plugin, so commenting should work just fine. Many thanks to Sokratis from TrustedPlaces for pointing out this huge bug on my site – ironically, in response to my post pointing out some minor bugs on his site. Oy.

The lapse of the blogs

HEY YOU KNOW I THINK MAYBE I SHOULD START POSTING HERE MORE OFTEN. THAT WOULD BE GOOD!

It’s been a bit quiet round here of late – sorry about that. The usual reasons. Busy at work, uncommon tiredness, an overwhelming sense of sodden ennui at the trivialities of modern life hanging damp and heavy like an autumn fog…

Basically, every time I’ve thought about writing anything, I think about the issue a bit, consider it from all angles, toy with a few choice and witty phrases, then decide that I don’t care about it in the slightest and I wish nothing but misery and pestilence upon all of humanity for having the sheer, tedious, petty-minded fuckwaddery to think it’s important in the first place. The only thing that actually stirred my interest was the idea of abolishing limbo – which struck me as being unaccountably funny – but then the Pope didn’t actually make a decision, leaving both the word, the place and my blog-post about limbo, in, ironically, limbo. The rat bastard.

Anyway, that’s what’s been happening. So there. More writing, I assure you, will happen soon. Probably.

When in Rome…

…do not blog.

Off for the week, to a city of history and art and learning and, you know… pasta and stuff. Back this weekend.

See you on the other side…

UPDATE: Bloody hell, that actually worked. It’s all still here. Well, most of it. Might be some images missing. I have an evening of re-uploading ahead. Hmmm. Might take the opportunity to upgrade to WP 2.0.2 while I’m at it…

UPDATE UPDATE: Wow, this is going great. WP 2.0.2’s quite pretty, isn’t it? Right, now to install the IE-breaking functionality.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE: Yup, now I’m just playing around with new masthead designs. Do you like it? Doesn’t really fit in with the rest of the site right now, but I’m thinking of doing some minor redecorating. I want more whitespace. Anyway, I’ll change it back to the old one in a day or so. Just fiddling.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE: See? A little bit more whitespace. Told you.

Oi oi – I’m moving the hosting for the site to a different company over the next few days. So don’t be surprised if there’s suddenly no website here at some point in the near future. It shall return. Oh, yes, it shall return.

Indefinite hiatus

In case anybody was wondering where I’d got to – this happened at the beginning of the week:

Oh bugger

Bastard bastard bastard bastard. I have to say, it’s got me thinking a lot about death, bereavement and the inevitability of mortality. You know, I keep asking myself the question: what will happen to that intangible but essential being that I know of as me, once I die?

It’s also got me thinking about where the hell I put my Win XP backup CD.

And interestingly, the answer to both questions is “It’ll be somewhere in a box, completely forgotten about and buried under piles of crap.”
